Father Brian Petersen grew up in San Diego County (Poway, to be exact) and served in the Marine Corps before he felt the call to ministry. He graduated from Azusa Pacific University and went on to seminary at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary. He then worked for many years in the education and software industries while also volunteering as a church planter and missionary with homeless youth in Portland, Oregon and New York City. Brian has been ordained in the Episcopal Church for a little over 4 years, and he was ordained to the priesthood at St. Andrew's! He has also served in our diocese as the Priest-in-Charge of St. Brigid's Oceanside, the Curate and Priest Associate at St. Bartholomew's Poway, and Priest-in-Charge at Holy Cross Carlsbad, where he and Rev. Martie had a wonderful time working together. Brian and his wife Kelly live in Oceanside and have 3 children: Luke (23) who is currently going to school in Oregon, and Ollie (16) and Max (6) still at home. He enjoys surfing, hiking and camping with his family, and rooting for the Padres.
