Youth Ministry

Keeping Christ as the focus of ministry with youth, St. Andrew’s provides a safe and supportive place for young people to explore who they are, where they belong, and what their purpose is in the church, their families, and the world. Our ministries meet students where they are in both faith and life providing encouragement for the journey. St. Andrew’s successfully shares the youth ministry program with neighboring Bethlehem Lutheran Church. This partnership brings students together from various schools in the area.

  • All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are welcome to join us for fellowship and fun. Students will gather on the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month at St. Andrew’s from 5:30-6:30 pm. For more information please contact Mindy.

  • The high school community is centered on faith, friendship, and growth! As they navigate high school and prepare for their lives beyond it, St. Andrew’s students come together weekly to explore their faith. The meetings include meaningful discussions centered around Christian understandings of faith, love, care, compassion, self-image, and trust. Our time together also includes fun, fellowship, and service to our neighbors. We also enjoy overnighters, retreats, off-site activities, beach meetings, and summer service trips. The students meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. St. Andrew’s and Bethlehem share in hosting this ministry. Meetings alternate between the two church campuses. For more information please contact Mindy.

  • During Sunday worship on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 10:00am the 7th – 12th grade students are invited to a special worship time. We meet in the Friendship Room for a message. The group joins the congregation during the passing of the peace and in time to participate in communion. For more information please contact Mindy.

  • Students entering grades 9-12 are encouraged to participate in our annual summer service trip. Past locations have included Indigenous Reservations in New Mexico and Colorado and the international border in El Paso, TX.

  • Confirmation is the time for youth to affirm the vows that were made on their behalf at baptism and declare their intention to follow Jesus. The timing of our confirmation program is based on when our Bishop visits, which happens approximately once every 12-18 months. Teen confirmands participate in a year-long, monthly program and are typically accompanied by a mentor. Parents participate in a concurrent program. Please contact Mindy for more information.
