Welcome Ministry
"The stranger who visits among you, shall be to you as one of your own family, and you shall love that person as yourself..." Leviticus 19:34
The Welcome Ministry at St. Andrew’s is dedicated to greeting visitors at the door and giving guidance and assistance to help ensure a comfortable and spiritual worship experience. The week after a family or individual visits, they will receive a letter of welcome. Additionally, as “wheat”, symbolizing nurture and growth, is our dominant liturgical symbol, we traditionally deliver a loaf of fresh bread during that week to all who have visited. Just as St. Andrew brought his brother Peter to Christ, we believe that we are called to embrace all who come to us, leading them to find Christ at the heart of our faith community.
Once or twice a year, in an effort to incorporate individuals and families into parish life, we host a two-hour Newcomer Welcome Breakfast, at which we share information about St. Andrew’s and invite those attending to share their history and hopes for their new church home.
