Acolytes and Worship Assistants
Acolytes
The Acolyte ministry is open to all children and teens in grades 3-12. They are invited to serve at the altar as Gospel Book Bearers, Torchbearers, and Junior and Senior Crucifers. The youth have a chance to learn more about the history and tradition of the Episcopal Church while serving important functions at the altar. Acolytes wear special robes (called a cotta and surplice). There is a mandatory training session for all new and returning acolytes each fall, but new acolytes are welcome at any time of the year and can be trained individually. Acolytes are scheduled approximately once every 4-6 weeks, and are often asked to serve more frequently for the major services and seasons (Christmas, Easter, etc.).
It's an important, FUN ministry and we welcome all children and teens to participate! For more information, contact Christie Hamel.
Worship Assistants
All parishioners are welcome to enrich their worship experience by serving as worship assistants. Some roles, such as reading the lessons or acting as ushers, require no training, while others, such as lay eucharistic visitors, may entail specialized instruction. If you are interested in serving as a worship assistant, contact Alison Lee, Parish Administrator.
