St. Andrew’s is a diverse, inclusive community committed to welcoming all, praying together, serving our brothers and sisters in need and sharing fellowship.
We have all been newcomers and understand that when you are planning to visit a church for the first time, you can have questions. We hope that you will find the following information helpful.
We are located at 890 Balour Drive in Encinitas. The front doors of the church are located on the parking lot side, west of our building. The main entrance to the parking lot is on the south side of the church on Guadalajara Drive.
A greeter will welcome you at the door and can help you with any questions that you might have. Our ushers will give you a bulletin (service guide). You may sit wherever you like.
Our nursery is available each week from 9:00 to 11:30 for babies to 2-years-old, and Sunday School classes for children 2 years to 6th grade meet during the 10 a.m. service. A teen worship service is also held at 10:00 a.m. each 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. A greeter or usher can assist you in finding the right spaces for your kids.
Children participating in Sunday School will join the congregation at the Peace, and, although families are welcome in all parts of the church, we have created a child-friendly area, complete with rockers, soft toys, and coloring pages in the side chapel.
Your child will feel more engaged if you help them pray along with us, notice the gestures of the clergy, and point out words they can sing along, but if that’s distracting from your worship, little ones can play in the volunteer-staffed nursery.
8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite I - a traditional, spoken service of Bible readings, a sermon, prayers and Communion.
10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist- Rite II – a service of Bible readings, a sermon, prayers and Communion with music.
Joining in Worship:
Your bulletin is your guide to participating in the service. All that you will need is found in either the bulletin, prayer book (BCP) or Hymnal. Copies of the Book of Common Prayer and Hymnal are found in all pews. You may choose to sit, stand or kneel during the different parts of the service. An usher will come to your pew when it is time to go to the altar rail for communion. Everyone is invited to take communion, or you may come to the altar for just a blessing. Please do not be concerned about what may seem like many details...your presence is the only detail of importance.
Coffee Hour: We hope that you will join us for coffee in the parish hall following the service.
Whoever you are, wherever you find yourself on life’s journey, our doors are open. The people of St. Andrew’s are waiting for you.
