A place to begin, a place to belong.
St Andrew's Preschool is a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Episcopal Church of St. Andrew the Apostle. The Preschool is open to any child, developmentally ready for the preschool experience and potty trained, three years through six years of age. Families do not need to be members of St. Andrew's Church.
Our goal is to foster developmentally appropriate physical, social, cognitive, and spiritual growth in the young children we serve. We hope to address the needs of these families and children by providing resources and experiences that help them feel competent in our world. We hope to nurture their self-esteem and growth with the knowledge that they are appreciated for their uniqueness and that they are loved by God.
Our curriculum addresses growth with the following objectives:
- To nurture physical development with large motor activities.
- To foster social and emotional development through small group, large group, and one-on-one interactions.
- To stimulate cognitive development through developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- To encourage language development by providing rich verbal opportunities
- To protect imagination and creativity by providing a non-threatening avenue for self-expression.
- To develop autonomy, independence, and decision making skills while understanding the concepts of cooperation and sharing.
- To nurture spiritual growth in a Christian oriented program through chapel services in the church sanctuary, that includes Bible stories and songs in an age-appropriate curriculum.

At St. Andrew's, we feel that a child's preschool experience should be a time for experimenting with materials and media, exploring interpersonal relationships, and manifesting a positive self image. We create a climate that is nurturing but encourages independence and decision making skills. We feel that a child learns in a play based environment that provides hands-on activities, has a varied curriculum, and employs a staff that is sensitive to each child's needs. Although growth in one facet of all the aspects of development may appear subtle, we recognize that the WHOLE CHILD is growing by leaps and bounds!
