Our aim is to love, nurture, guide and grow your children in God's image.

Children and Family Ministries is a large ministry including the several programs listed below.  For information on any of the programs please contact Barbara Felder at children@standrewsepiscopal.org

Sunday School

Throughout the traditional school year, St. Andrew’s offers it’s children, ages 18 months through 6th grade, Sunday School at 9:45 am. The children re-join their parents for the Eucharist.

The 18-36 Month Toddler Class, is lovingly introduced to basic Bible concepts reinforced through stories, play, songs and simple crafts.

Pre-School Through Sixth Grade Classes all use the "Seasons of the Spirit” curriculum.  This lectionary-based curriculum incorporates both The Book of Common Prayer and The Revised Common Lectionary (read: our children’s lessons will be based on the same lessons you adults are hearing in church!), in this way, uniting our parish family, young and old alike, around a common immersion in the readings.

Children’s Chapel

Children’s Chapel will be held seven times throughout the Sunday School year (see calendar).  All children will meet in the Parish Hall at the same time for special presentations.  Two of the Children’s Chapel programs will last the entire service and will include the Eucharist.  Teachers scheduled to teach those Sundays accompany their class to Children’s Chapel.

Special Events

Events are arranged at special times throughout the year to highlight features of our faith and to nurture, grow and develop an understanding of God’s love for each child.  Often these programs are held at the same time as Adult Christian Growth programs.  Look for our “Advent”ure and Lenten programs.

Christmas Pageant

At 4 pm on Christmas Eve, the children of St. Andrew’s present the glorious story of the birth of Jesus Christ.  See calendar for sign-up and rehearsal dates.

Fun filled week for 3 year olds thru 6th graders!

Children’s Summer Sunday Program

During the summer months, we continue to follow our Sunday School curriculum in a fun, multi-age atmosphere. There will be crafts and music for the older kids and playtime for the toddlers after a brief opening service. Children will rejoin their parents after the Peace.

Acolytes

The Acolyte ministry is open to all children and teens in grades 3-12. Acolytes serve at the Altar about once a month. It is a wonderful way to involve our children in helping to lead worship. New acolytes are always welcome! Please speak with Pastor Jocelynn if your child is interested in learning more about this fun ministry.

Confirmation

At St. Andrew’s, children are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation when they reach the 7th grade. Classes are taught by the clergy in preparation for the Bishop’s visit, and are usually offered bi-annually.

“Comfort Room”

This is a special room that adjoins our sanctuary. It is designed primarily for parents and their babies or infants who become restless during the service. It is equipped with a changing table and toys, as well as chairs, prayer books and hymnals. You will be able to see the service, hear the sermon, the prayers and the lessons. We invite you to use this room should the need arise.

Junior Fellowship Ministry

Boys and girls grades 3-6 actively participate in our parish family community by lending a hand to the Fellowship Committee in the presentation and serving of coffee hour and parish family breakfasts.
