Connect With Others
The Fellowship Ministry is for everyone -- young and old -- to gather together and build the community at St. Andrew's. We create many opportunities to meet old friends or to make new ones, to share in food and fellowship.
A small coffee, tea and pastries cart serves parishioners between the 8:00 and 10:00 Sunday services as they:
- sit and chat following the 8:00 service
- get some coffee and pastry on their way to Bible Study
- relax on the patio when the sun is warm
- prepare to teach the day’s Sunday School lesson.
COFFEE HOUR:
Fellowship provides coffee and delicious snacks after the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services.
Parish members add personal and celebratory touches to coffee hour by providing delectable hand-made treats and festive decorations for:
- 4th of July
- Halloween
- Easter morning brunch
- Baptisms
Fellowship hosts such traditional St. Andrew’s events as:
- Maundy Thursday Supper of the Lamb
- “Donuts for Dads” coffee hour for Fathers’ Day
- the festive, Scottish-themed Kirkin O’ the Tartans reception
- Post-Thanksgiving Leftovers Potluck Brunch
- The widely-attended All-Parish Picnic/BBQ.
Proceeds from the always-popular, monthly Parish Breakfast, hosted by Tim and Linda Lyons, fund the Friday lunch program for the needy.
The Fellowship Committee is deeply grateful and appreciative for the support of our youth kitchen crew and the many hard-working volunteers who provide delicious food trays on special occasions and lend a hand with clean-up, without whom coffee hour and our many special events could not take place. We always welcome new members to the Fellowship Committee and love to hear new ideas for fellowship at St. Andrew’s. FOYER GROUP
Foyer Groups are a wonderful way to deepen relationships with fellow parishioners. Small groups of 6 to 10 people meet approximately monthly over a simple meal, just to enjoy one another's company. Groups meet every month to six weeks, depending on members' schedules. One member convenes the group, and then each member hosts or organizes a meal. Some groups have pot lucks and others choose to have each member host once and be a guest the rest of the time. Some meet at restaurants or picnic in the park. The format is up to the members of that particular group. New groups begin in September. If you have any questions, call Ellie Bonner at 760-438-7357 or email at elliebonner@yahoo.com. WOMEN'S RETREAT
Each year, a group of women from St. Andrew’s makes a retreat to Vina De Lestonnac, a lovely convent and retreat center in the hills of Temecula, located about 45 minutes from Encinitas. It is the perfect time of the year to enjoy the beauty of spring in the hills and vine- yards of Temecula. Our numbers have been quite constant over the years – 20 to 25 women of all ages and interests come together, seeking a closer walk with God and greater sense of community at St. Andrew’s. Please join us this year as we experience Christianity through a creation-based spirituality. We will learn new music, probably dance, looking at different types of prayers, and seeing ourselves in relation to God and to the creation around us. In the process, we will talk about many creation-based ancient religions, which have influenced Christianity throughout the world. Watch for information in the Spring newsletter and bulletins.
