Columbarium Wall, Memorial Wall And Meditative Garden

columbarium

Our beautiful Columbarium was a dream of Fr. Paul Camm, the Rector here from the mid 1970s to the mid 1990s, and was completed in 2002.  It is a garden of beauty and peace with benches to sit and meditate.  To reserve a niche or purchase a plaque in memory of a loved one the following guide-lines might be useful.

We suggest that the time to make burial and memorial arrangements for ourselves, and for those we love, is now, when there is time to thoughtfully consider the appropriate options. Too frequently, when death occurs, hasty and often difficult decisions must be made by family members who are experiencing grief and emotional distress.

The solution is St. Andrew’s Columbarium, designed to provide a respectful, economical, and fitting place of inurnment.  Within this walled and gated place of beauty, tranquility and privacy, there is a walkway, a water-feature, as well as benches, flowers and shrubs, all designed to provide an atmosphere conducive to meditation.  The Columbarium Wall contains 96 niches, each capable of accommodating two urns. Each niche provides for the inurnment of two persons, or one person may desire to acquire a full niche.

On the facing east wall of the church is a companion Memorial Wall to honor those of our loved ones who have gone before us, and whose resting place is elsewhere. Their names may be inscribed on this special wall.

The Columbarium is the responsibility of the church and vestry. It is maintained by an endowment fund. The Parish Administrator with the assistance of the office oversees the day-to-day management. This Columbarium project is financially self-sufficient, and does not impact the ongoing ministries of our parish.

For more information please call the parish office at 760-753-3017 or e-mail contact@standrewsepiscopal.org, to make and appointment with Gillian.  You will be guided through the selection of a location on the wall and assisted with the paper work.
